EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 28, 2023) – A pair of teams that got off to good starts in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play, Mount St. Mary's and Manhattan meet for a chance to start 2-0 in the league.
MOUNT UPDATE
Erin Anderson scored an overtime game winner to help the Mountaineers defeat the Niagara Purple Eagles 15-14.
Anna Salerno finished with four goals to lead the scoring for the team, with
Abby Osmeyer and
Dani Donoghue adding hat tricks.
With the victory, the squad has won 19 of 20 conference games, dating back to the Northeast Conference. The Mount went a perfect 11-0 in 2021 and were 7-1 last year.
Goalkeeper
Madison Bradley ranks in the top 25 for saves in the country, ranking 21
st in both total saves (86) and saves per game (9.56). The senior captain has played every minute of every game this year.
SCOUTING THE JASPERS
Manhattan rides a .500 record and a two-game win streak into the matchup, defeating Kennesaw State out of conference and Canisius in the MAAC opener. Julianna Iovine and Jillian Reiner are tied for the team lead in goals with 18.
Ashley Gambardella starts in goal for the Jaspers, seeing the bulk of the time in the net with 74 saves. Turnovers aid the team in staying competitive, forcing 92 turnovers while committing 148 – forced or unforced.

The Mount puts a perfect 12-0 record against the Jaspers on the line in Wednesday's game. This series also returns after five seasons – the last game was a 12-8 Mountaineers win in 2018.
