Emmitsburg, Md. (March 28, 2023) - Mount St. Mary's opens week seven with a midweek matchup here at E.T. Straw Family Stadium versus the Georgetown Hoyas on Wednesday, March 29th at 3 p.m. The Mountaineers are 10-12 on the season and have been a competitive unit as we inch closer to the half-way point of the season.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mount is coming off a shaky weekend after being defeated by Canisius in the opening of conference play.
Cooper Adams pitched an impressive six innings in the series-opener. The fifth year is now 3-1 on the season and allowed a stingy two runs on six hits, tallied 12 strikeouts, while walking only two batters.
Scott Seeker and
Brady Drawbaugh knocked deep homeruns out against the Golden Griffins making the homerun tally a three-way tie between these two heavy hitters and
David Stirpe. Seeker leads the teams batting average as he bats a .370,
Aiden Tierney still holds the two spot batting a .359, and
Jayson Kramer is next batting a .304.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown is 14-9 on the season while 3-6 on the road. The Hoyas are on a three-game win streak and are in the midst of making it four on the road today at Maryland. Ubaldo Lopez has been a problem in the batter's box as he's batting .338 on the year with 26 hits and 23 RBIs. Behind him is Jake Hyde who has a very similar statline in that he's batting .308 with 28 hits and 20 RBIs. The team bats a collective .268 on the year.
Georgetown has three pitchers that have been tough to bat around through 23 games in lefty Andrew Williams who has an ERA of 3.41 through 31 and 2/3 innings. Jake Bloss with a 2.76 through 29 1/3 with 32 strikeouts, and Cody Jensen who has a 4.07 ERA, is 4-1 on the season and has tallied 24 strikeouts through 24 1/3 innings.

The Mountaineers are 13-22 against Georgetown with a 5-7 home record. The last matchup between these two clubs was played on March 20th, 2022 in a 3-1 home win.
