EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 10, 2023) – With three of the next four games at home, Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse look to make a strong statement heading into Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. The first attempt is this Saturday as the Mount welcomes Bucknell.
MOUNT UPDATE
Last Wednesday, the Mount got off to a quick 3-0 start against Navy before the Mids rallied to win the contest by a 16-8 final.
Julianna Sanchez scored her first hat trick as a Mountaineer.
Based in large part to their 18 goal win over La Salle on March 4
th, the Mount has bumped up their goals per game average to 9.6 this season.
Dani Donoghue has 13 goals to lead the team with a 20-game consecutive streak.
Abby Osmeyer is also in double digits with 11, including eight in the win over the Explorers.
SCOUTING THE BISON
Bucknell is riding a three-game win streak into Saturday's showdown, defeating Marist, Robert Morris and St. Bonaventure along the way. Allie Boyce is the Bison's leader in goals with 14 and Taylor McClain has 19 assists for the year.
Former Mount St. Mary's player Liza Oakley is on the Bison coaching staff as an assistant.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Mount is looking for their first win in five tries against Bucknell. The teams last faced each other in the 2016 season opener, which was an 11-5 win for the Bison. Steph Rurkowski collected 12 saves for the Mountaineers in that game, but the offense struggled putting up 17 shots for the entire contest.
