Mount St. Mary's softball is set to host the Mount Softball Invitational this weekend.  On Saturday, the Mount will host both Central Connecticut and St. Bonaventure for one game.  On Sunday, the teams will each play each other one time.

MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's fell at UMBC, 3-2, on Wednesday night to conclude a nine-game spring trip.  The games this weekend kick-start a 13-game homestand for the Mountaineers.  Abigayle Perry leads the Mount with a .303 average this season.  The junior has an on-base percentage of .511 while also leading the team with six stolen bases.  Hannah Gartrell is hitting .267 in her first season as a Mountaineer while Maggie Kane is hitting .237 with six runs scored.  Avery Neuhart leads the Mount's pitching staff with a 1-1 record and a 1.75 ERA in 24.0 innings of work.  Freshman Maddie Coleman is 0-3 with a 2.88 ERA in 24.1 innings.

ABOUT CENTRAL CONNECTICUT:  Central Connecticut split a doubleheader with Manhattan on March 6, and enters the weekend at 3-4 this season. Kim Howard leads CCSU with a .318 average and seven RBI this season while Grace Lawton has a pair of home runs.  Kaylee Whittaker is the top pticher with a 3-2 record and a 2.94 ERA in 31.0 innings pitched.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES WITH THE BLUE DEVILS:  The Mount and Central Connecticut are former Northeast Conference rivals, having met 49 times during the Mount's tenure in the NEC.  The Mount swept last year's three-game series at the Mount, but CCSU holds a 28-21 lead in the all-time series.  The Mount is 14-9 all-time at home against the Blue Devils.

ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE:  St. Bonaventure opened the season with nine games in Hawai'i, posting a 1-8 record.  Juanita Wolak is the top hitter with a .316 average so far this year.  Elizabeth Lis (4.39 ERA, 22.1 IP) and Emily Phelan (5.25 ERA, 25.1 IP) have combined to start all nine games in the circle.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES WITH THE BONNIES: Mount St. Mary's is 7-6 all-time against St. Bonaventure, the alma mater for both head coach Anna Nagro and assistant coach Christine Keleher.  The Mount has won the past two matchups in the series, including a 6-4 win the last time the two teams met on Feb. 24, 2019.  All 13 games in the series have been played at a neutral site.

UP NEXT:  The Mountaineers host North Dakota for a doubleheader on Wednesday, March 15, at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.  The first game starts at 2:00 p.m.
