Emmitsburg, Md. (February 23, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's was able to make history already this season by achieving 4-0 status after defeating Coppin State on Tuesday. The Mountaineers travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. this weekend to compete in Wake Forests' tournament.
 
ABOUT THE MOUNT
 
Senior Jayson Kramer went 2-3 at the plate, with three RBIs, and a homerun. Junior Efrain Correa, Jr. went 2-2 at the plate, drew three walks, while scoring twice. Junior Aiden Tierney highlighted the day with a homerun in the third and a game saving diving grab in deep right center to seal the game in the bottom of the ninth.
 
Freshman Jett Slepak recorded his second save of the season while Jeff Davis now has two wins and one save this season. Davis' stats include six strikeouts, a 0.00 ERA, and one hit allowed through 6.1 innings pitched.
 
So far this season, Junior Tyler Long leads the teams' batting averages with a .533, he's gone 8-15 at the plate, tallying two doubles, and scored five times.  
 
 ABOUT TOWSON
 
The Tigers are 0-4 opening the season with three losses coming by University of South Carolina- Upstate, the fourth from Southern Illinois University. Their offense seems stagnant, scoring a total of 8 runs in four games. Casey Bishop leads the team's batting averages with .333. The team has a total ERA of 6.75 while sending 16 different pitchers to the mound.
 
ABOUT BINGHAMTON
 
The Bears of 0-3 on the season after opening the season with a three-game series versus Clemson. Tommy Reifler leads the team with a .700 batting average. Pitcher Gabe Driscoll has a 0.00 ERA, allowed two hits, and recorded four strikeouts through five innings.
 
ABOUT WAKE FOREST
 
The Demon Deacons are ranked sixth nationally and 5-0 on the season after defeating Youngstown State twice, Illinois twice, and UNC Greensboro 20-2 on Tuesday. Tommy Hawke leads the team 8-17 at the plate (.471 BA), with five RBIs, while scoring eight times. Wake's pitching is consistent and stingy with allowing any runs cross the plate.
 
HISTORY AGAINST TOWSON
 
The Tigers hold the advantage over the Mountaineers with a series record of 21-2. The last game between the two was March 30th, 2016, when the Mount lost 7-8. The Mount's last win versus Towson was on March 1st, 2006, at Towson in a 9-4 game.
 
HISTORY AGAINST BINGHAMTON
 
The Mountaineers are 4-1 against the Bears with their last win via a home game on February 24th, 2002, in a 3-2 game. Mount St. Mary's has only ever played Binghamton at home.
