GAME NOTES (MSM) | WATCH | LIVE STATS

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 17, 2023) – The penultimate game of Mount St. Mary's women's basketball inside Knott Arena for 2022-23 features the Mount welcoming the first place Iona University Gaels to Emmitsburg.

MOUNT UPDATE

Mount St. Mary's fell to Quinnipiac 75-55 on Thursday evening. Isabella Hunt led in points with 13 and Jessica Tomasetti led in rebounds with 10. The game gathered the dubious distinction of being the widest margin of defeat for the Mount in a MAAC game this season.

The team sits in eighth place in the league standings but are within striking distance of moving up the ladder. Manhattan is one-half game ahead at 7-9, and Marist sits one game ahead at 7-8. Sixth place for the MAAC tournament is a strong incentive, serving as the highest spot in the first round.

Michaela Harrison continues to lead the Mount in points per game at 12.4, but Tomasetti leads among conference games at 11.7. Jo Raflo is tied for the fourth most blocks in a sophomore season with 28.

RE-EXAMINING THE GAELS

It has been since December 19th that Iona has found themselves in the loss column, picking up 13 straight wins from that date. The Gaels make the most of the offensive opportunities, shooting 49.1 percent from the floor and 36.1 percent from three, both tops in the MAAC.

Leading scorer Juana Camilion stands at 15.3 points per game, good for fifth in the conference. Ketsia Athias leads in rebounds per game (7.4) and assists per game (5.0). Kate Mager, a former Northeast Conference player with Merrimack, is the team's three-point specialist with 80 triples at an exorbitant pace of 50.6 percent.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES

Meeting for the first time ever last month in New Rochelle, Iona won the contest by a 63-44 final. Natalie Villfalor was the lone Mountaineer to reach double figures in points, while Hunt reached double digits in rebounds.

LOOKING AHEAD

On February 23rd, Mount St. Mary's challenges Rider for a morning game in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
