EMMITSBURG, Md. (December 4, 2023) – After two of a half weeks' worth of road games, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball returns home to face the Bucknell Bison.
MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers went 1-2 on their three-game road series, defeating FDU and falling to UMES and Loyola. After limiting opponents to less than 60 points in the first four games of the season, the Hawks and Greyhounds surpassed that mark to achieve victory.
Jessica Tomasetti reached double figures in the past two games, serving as the leading scorer in the Loyola contest.
Jo Raflo continues to hold the top average at 12.8 points per game.
Isabella Hunt maintains the team lead in rebounding and assists, and Tomasetti is the leader in steals.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
The Bison travel to Emmitsburg looking to also reverse a two-game losing streak, falling in games to Saint Joseph's and Cornell. Averaging 51.1 points per game, Bucknell struggles to score and buoyed by some Power 5 foes, allowing nearly 70 points per game. Ashley Sofilkanich is the lone Bison scoring double figures at 11.3 points. She and Emma Theodorsson are tied for the most rebounds, while Caroline Dingler leads in assists.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Separated by a two hours' drive of 111 miles, Mount St. Mary's and Bucknell have nine prior meetings between them. The series resumes after nine years of being idle, after the Mount won the first six contests and Bucknell took the last three.
LOOKING AHEAD
Remaining at home, the Mount takes on George Mason Saturday (Dec. 9) for a 1 p.m. start. Patriots coach and former Northeast Conference Player of the Decade Vanessa Blair-Lewis returns to her alma mater and one-time coaching stop.
