Mount St. Mary's Set for Saturday Matchup with Georgetown

MOUNT STORY LINES
  • Mount St. Mary's bolted to an early double-digit lead en route to a 74-60 win over Coppin State in the home opener on November 11.  It was a balanced effort for the Mountaineers as four players scored in double figure, with all 10 players who appeared in the game scoring.  Dakota Leffew led with 14 points, with Joshua Reaves (12), George Tinsley (11) and Xavier Lipscomb (10) also reaching double figures.  The Mount led by as much as 21 points in the second half, and held Coppin State to 33.9 percent shooting in the game.
  • This will be the 30th all-time meeting between the Mount and Georgetown with the Hoyas holding a 24-5 lead in the series.  The Mount is 0-5 against the Hoyas since moving to NCAA Division I in 1988-89, and is looking for its first win over Georgetown since a 93-79 victory at home on January 18, 1961.  Georgetown rallied from a 19-point second half deficit for an 81-68 victory over the Mount in the last meeting on November 6, 2019.
  • The Mount's game vs. Georgetown is part of the Georgetown MTE which also features American.  The Mount plays American next on Nov. 22.
  • The Mountaineers are sixth in the nation in defending the three-point arc this season, holding the opposition to just 7-of-37 (.189) from beyond the arc over the first two games of the year. 
  • George Tinsley led the Mount with eight rebounds in the win over Coppin State.  Tinsley has been a consistent rebounder throughout his career, averaging six rebounds over his 109 career games.  He has grabbed five or more boards in a game 75 times during his career, and he has seven career double-doubles.  Tinsley is averaging a team-high 7.5 boards this season.
  • Mount St. Mary's is currently tied for seventh in the nation in free throw percentage, connecting on 83.3 percent at the line over the first two games of the year.  In the win over Coppin State, the Mount went 16-of-18 (.889) at the foul line after hitting 9-of-12 (.750) in the season opener at Maryland.
