Women’s Rugby Action Returns to Compete at Navy

MOUNT ST. MARY'S at NAVAL ACADEMY
Annapolis, Md. | USNA Rugby Field
October 22nd, 2023 | 12:00 p.m.

WATCH

EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 20th, 2023) – Mount St. Mary's women's rugby returns to action this Sunday as they travel down to Annapolis to challenge the Navy Midshipmen on the pitch at 12:00 p.m. The Mountaineers are 1-3 on the season with their win via an away match against Princeton.

MOUNT UPDATE

Women's rugby last competed against Army on their home pitch as they were able to be the first to score via a Leah Palmesano try, just three minutes into the game. However, it was all Black Knights from then on as the Mountaineers fell to Army, 39-10. Emma Jacobs had a career day with 15 tackles, and one try.

SCOUTING NAVY

The Midshipmen are 2-4 on the season and are currently on a two game-losing streak. They've lost the past two games to Brown (34-7) and Sacred Heart (14-11). Navy has notable wins against Long Island University (19-18) and flattening West Chester 38-3. The Midshipmen look to have holes on defense that the Mountaineers can expose and take advantage of as they have allowed over 30 points three times this season.

HISTORY WITH NAVY

Mount St. Mary's is 3-5 all-time challenging the midshipmen in a 15's match, with the last being played on October 24th, 2021 in an away loss for the Mount, 27-34.
