Mount St. Mary’s Women’s Rugby Welcomes Harvard for Home Opener

ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mount's women's rugby team is coming off a tough start to the season with a 62-7 loss at Army. The Mountaineers came into the game with a head of steam making it a quick 7-0 lead after freshman Kaylen Thomas dashed up the left sideline to score the first try of the game. The Black Knights responded with 26 points by the end of the first half. The Mountaineers couldn't catch back up as the Black Knights stayed in the driver's seat for the remainder of the game, extending their lead by 55 by the final whistle.
 
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard is coming off their first win of the season as they routed Quinnipiac 48-19 in their home opener. The Crimson scored their first try six minutes into the game, keeping their foot on the gas, they were up 31-7 by halftime. Coming out of the half the Bobcats were the first to score, the score 31-12. The Bobcats came to life with an interception and took it back to their try zone, the score then being 31-19. The Crimson picked up the effort with strong defense and won the game by a margin of 29.

The Mountaineers and the Crimson have faced off three times before, the record sits at 0-3 in favor of Harvard. The last game played was a year ago on September 3rd of 2021 where the Mountaineers lost 5-53.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Mount will host Virginia on September 24th at 3:00 P.M. at Echo Field. The B game will also be played right before against LIU at 1 P.M.
 
The Mount B team will compete against Longwood's B team Saturday at 2 P.M. following the Harvard vs. Mount tilt.
