May 23, 2022—Dylan LaNoue and Richard Gilchrist of the Mount St. Mary's men's outdoor track and field team have qualified for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary Round, hosted by Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, on May 25-28.

The top 48 athletes in their respective events earned a berth into the NCAA Preliminary Rounds. The top 12 times/marks at both the East and West Preliminary Round sites will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon June 8-11.

A senior, LaNoue will be making his second consecutive appearance in the triple jump at the NCAA East Preliminary.  Ranked 44^th, he earned his spot with a leap of 15.43m (50' 7.5") at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on March 17. The triple jump competition will begin on Friday night at 6:00 p.m.  LaNoue finished in 20^th place in last year's preliminary round with a mark of 15.62m (51' 3").  

A graduate student in his first season at the Mount, Gilchrist earned a spot at the NCAA East Preliminary in the 110m hurdles.  Gilchrist is ranked 30^th on the East Preliminary list with a time of 13.86 seconds that he recorded at Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational as well.  Gilchrist will begin his quest for a spot in the NCAA Championships on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m.
