Women’s Water Polo Comeback Falls Short on Senior Day, 9-8

Mount women's water polo cannot complete the comeback as they fall 9-8 to St. Francis Brooklyn in the last game of the season.

Mount St. Mary's finished with an 8-23 record on the season.

Ana Luisa Cotta led the Mountaineers with four goals, including a penalty shot, and added one assist. Rebecca Valentine had two goals, two assists, and three steals, while Robyn Currie registered two goals.

The Mount trailed 5-1 after the first quarter, but Cotta scored two goals in the second quarter to cut the lead down to three. The Terriers and the Mountaineers each scored two goals in the third, including a heave from Currie that found the upper 90 to beat the buzzer. Things heated up in the fourth quarter with both teams trading goals early in the quarter, then the Mountaineers scored two goals to cut the lead down to one. The Mount got a good look on their final possession but just put it over the crossbar.

Mount St. Mary's will compete in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Tournament hosted by Bucknell on April 22-24.
