ERIE, Pa. (April 8, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's bowling celebrated another milestone Friday with its defeat of Medaille College, sealing their first ever NCAA Tournament win. The Mountaineers challenge No. 1 seed McKendree at 3 p.m. with the winner punching their ticket to the Erie Regional championship game.
They become the second team in the Division I era of Mount St. Mary's athletics to pick up an NCAA Tournament victory, joining the 2008 and 2017 men's basketball teams.

The Mavericks got off to a fast start as the Mountaineers had to take time and get settled.
Rebecca Dodson (213) and
Alyssa Alexander (202) paved the way, with
Rachel Hines right behind them with a 196. Medaille benefited from a 221 by Paige Herndon and a 212 by Taylor Strickland.

Kenneth DeGraaf adjusted the lineup for game two, as Hines and
Amanda Yeung switched places and
Barbara Hawes entered in the third spot. That switch met with immediate success as the Mount rolled a 190, followed by a 224. Pushing the pinfall lead close to 100, they used scores of 195, 194 and an impressive 237, besting the Mavericks each game.

Staying consistent throughout bracket play, the Mount maintained its quintet from the Baker round. Steady play was the consequence, dipping below the 200 line once while average 202. After the Mountaineers built a 3-0 lead, Medaille rallied for their best game of the day at 245 to keep their hopes alive. Withstanding the blow, the Mount kept their heads and polished off three strikes between Alexander and Dodson. Needing seven pins to clinch, Dodson delivered a fine nine to seal the deal.
