EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 5, 2022) – Looking to stretch their win streak to a season-long three games, Mount St. Mary's challenges Coppin State in a midweek home game.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
Rebounding from a 16-6 defeat in the series opener, Mount used its pitching staff to piece together two victories by finals of 7-1 and 3-1 against Wagner.
Luke Pryor delivered a complete game performance with six strikeouts Saturday, followed by the trio of
Cooper Adams,
Isaac Van Meter and
Blake Beal Sunday. Adams went six while Van Meter and Beal worked to escape late inning jams.
Sunday's win saw seven stolen bases, a new season high for a game this year. At this stage the Mount stands third in swipes with 45.
Tristan McAlister leads individually with 11, followed by
Tyler Grodell with eight.
ABOUT COPPIN STATE
Locked in an airtight competitive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Eagles hold onto first place by a slim one-game margin at 7-5. Their 11-17 overall is aided by out of conference wins over Navy, Saint Peter's, Cornell and Albany.
Hitting at .280 as a team, Coppin boasts four qualified averages over .300 – Sebastian Sarabia (.349), Josh Hankins (.326), Corey Miley (.325) and Marcos Castillo (.311). Pitchers combine for a 6.78 ERA, led by Jordan Hamberg at 3.55 and 40 strikeouts.

Mount St. Mary's and Coppin State have 40 previous meetings, with 29 Mountaineer victories, 10 for the Eagles and a 1996 tie. In a four-game set last year, the sides split two wins each.
