EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 19, 2022) – After a tough series this past weekend, Mount St. Mary's baseball takes to the road for games at Penn State and Central Connecticut.

Anyone traveling to CCSU should adhere to the parking restrictions listed on the Blue Devils' website, as multiple events limit the number of spaces.

ABOUT THE MOUNT: The weekend series against Fairleigh Dickinson is one that the Mount will look to put in the rearview mirror. The Knights swept the series, including a 20-10 win in the finale. Despite the setback, the Mountaineers remain in the thick of the Northeast Conference playoff hunt, standing two games back of a spot.

Tristan McAlister leads all qualifiers in batting average at .336 (37-110), along with 19 RBI's and 17 stolen bases. Aiden Tierney, limited to 41 at-bats due to injury, is batting at .390 with 12 runs scored.

ABOUT PENN STATE: Standing at 14-19 for the year and 5-7 in the Big Ten, Penn State is coming off a winning weekend with two out of three over Purdue. Matt wood is the Nittany Lions' leading hitter with a .412 average, six homeruns and 28 RBIs. A committee of pitchers amass a 5.53 ERA, with multiple arms throwing between 20 and 40 innings this year. Travis Luensmann leads the team with 40.2 innings logged, registering a 4.43 ERA with 51 strikeouts.

ABOUT CCSU: Defending their NEC Tournament crown from a season ago, the Blue Devils sit third in the conference at 7-5 with a 15-11 overall record. Winners of four straight, CCSU swept Sacred Heart with a midweek win over Siena. Infielder Dan Covino emerges as the leading batsman with a .361 clip along with 13 doubles, five homers and 30 RBIs. Strong rotation play helped reduce the team ERA down to 4.42 as a team, with Anthony Mozzicato and Vincent Spizzoucco sporting ERA's below three. Reliever Luke Garofalo has limited teams to one run across 19 2/3 innings – good for an ERA of 0.46.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. OPPONENTS: With an all-time series dating back to 1897, Mount and Penn State have 13 prior challenges. The Nittany Lions took nine of those games, including the past three. The Mountaineers last won a 2-0 game in State College in 2010.

Members of the NEC since 1998, CCSU faced off against the Mount 81 times, with the Blue Devils taking 52 wins. CCSU takes two straight series sweeps into the weekend, and the Mountaineers' last win came in 2018.

ON DECK: One final road contest is on tap for next Wednesday (Apr. 27) at Coppin State before returning home to face Bryant (Apr. 29-May 1).
