EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 5, 2022) – A fourth quarter offensive burst helped Mount St. Mary's women's water polo stay in contention with Cal Lutheran during Saturday's competition at the Harvard Invite. Eventually falling 9-6, the team then dropped their second game to #23 Brown by a 15-4 final.
Rebecca Valentine earned a hat trick in the opener with the Regals. Seven more Mountaineers tallied one goal each on the day.
Samantha Bright returned in goal, earning seven saves between the two contests.
Robyn Currie also came back after some time away because of injury, finishing with one goal in the Cal Lutheran game and four total steals.
Down 6-2 and shutout for two of the three quarters, Valentine kicked off a comeback with a score. The Mount pulled as close as two before clutch goals by the Regals finished off the contest.
The nightcap was a challenging matchup to begin with and was sealed by the 9-1 margin at half.
Mount St. Mary's falls to 4-15 (0-5 CWPA) this year. They battle host Harvard at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, looking to improve on a shutout loss last weekend.
