EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 16, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's baseball opens their 2022 home schedule Wednesday with an afternoon matinee with the Bucknell Bison.    
 
ABOUT THE MOUNT
 
Last week was a tale of two different days for the Mount. Thursday saw a 15-4 drubbing of Navy, led by three RBIs each from Nick Fleming and Shane Wockley. The offense continued Friday, but pitching and defense struggled and dropped two games to UMBC.
 
Catcher Thomas Bramley had another good week, extending his hot start to an average of .359 (14-39). Tyler Grodell also qualifies with an average over .300, sitting at .308 (12-39).
 
Pitchers have compiled a 7.34 ERA, with Max Moore taking charge. The sophomore has pitched seven scoreless innings on the year with 12 strikeouts.
 
ABOUT BUCKNELL
 
Standing at 3-8, the Bison come to Emmitsburg on the sails of a three-game losing streak. After taking two of three from Radford and earned an 8-6 victory over Duke.
 
Grant Voytovich enters the midweek game with a .295 average and nine RBIs. Starter Will Greer has earned a 3.76 ERA in 26 1/3 innings completed.
 
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
 
Bucknell is one of the earliest foes Mount St. Mary's has ever challenged, with the two teams playing their first game in 1898. The Bison were also last year's home opener opponent – a 3-2 walk-off win fo the Mount off the bat of CJ Kozorosky.

A weekend series with Georgetown involves two games Saturday (March 19) in Emmitsburg and a finale in Bethesda Sunday (March 20).
