EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 25, 2022) – Still seeking a home playoff game for the Northeast Conference Tournament, Mount St. Mary's women's basketball plays its final regular season contest at Knott Arena against Central Connecticut. With two games left, the Mount stands in the final top four spot in the NEC.

Before tip-off, the Mount will honor three players on Senior Day – Kayla Agentowicz, Tess Borgosz and Kendall Bresee. Ceremonies begin around 12:45 p.m.

THE MATCHUP

Mount St. Mary's is looking for their eighth straight victory over Central Connecticut, after fending off a comeback last month to defeat the Blue Devils, 71-60. The Mount have won 33 of 45 games,
including a 19-3 record in Emmitsburg,

Central Connecticut last won on January 9, 2017 - a 68-58 final in New Britain. Kiana Patterson scored for the Blue Devils that evening.

MOUNTAINEER REPORT

The 63-40 victory over Sacred Heart on Thursday serves as the Mount's widest margin of victory in a NEC game this season. Four players scored double figures, led by Michaela Harrison with 12. The team led in every statistical category, including rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

At 9-7, Mount St. Mary's is tied with Wagner for third, but the Seahawks hold the tiebreaker following their upset of Fairleigh Dickinson Thursday. LIU is one game back and in contention for a home game but would also have to topple the conference leading Knights or rely on teams above them for help.

A victory in either of the last two games ensures a winning record for the team in conference play for the third straight year. The feat was last achieved in 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14 when those Mount teams went 33-21 against the conference.

SCOUTING THE BLUE DEVILS

Central Connecticut arrives in Emmitsburg hot off an upset victory over Saint Francis U Thursday evening. Belle Lampher came off the bench to score 21 points, going 6-for-11 from the floor with six foul shots.

The Blue Devils have made a slight improvement this year over their past two, winning six games so far after just four victories in both 2019-20 and 2020-21. Ashley Berube continues to be one of the best scorers in the NEC, averaging 14.6 points per game. Forever Toppin runs the point for CCSU, supplying 3.4 assists and two steals each game.

LOOKING AHEAD

The regular season ends with a Thursday (March 3) trip to Saint Francis U. Postseason play begins with the NEC quarterfinals on Monday, March 7th.
