Mount Softball Blanked by Stanford to Open DeMarini Invitational

Box Score Stanford, Calif. (February 25, 2022)--Mount St. Mary's was blanked at Stanford, 10-0, on Friday night at the DeMarini Invitational.  Stanford's Regan Krause tossed a no-hitter in the five-inning victory for the Cardinal.  The Mount drops to 2-4 on the season after playing its third consecutive game against a Power 5 opponent.

After a scoreless first inning, Stanford broke through for a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the second.  The Cardinal added five more in the bottom of the third and completed the scoring on Aly Kaneshiro's three-run homer in the fourth.

Amanda Berkley started for the Mount, allowing 10 runs (just four earned) in 3.1 innigns of work.  Freshman Olivia Murphy did not allow a run in 0.2 innings of relief.  Offensively, Elizabeth King was the lone Mountaineer to reach base, leading the top of the fifth off with a walk.

The Mount continues at the DeMarini Invitational with a pair of games tomorrow against California (3:30 p.m. ET) and Stanford (9:00 p.m.).
