EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 18, 2022) – Every Mount St. Mary's women's water polo player that jumped into the pool Friday night registered a goal, as the team earned a 24-5 victory over Penn State Behrend.
The Mount cruised to the victory, bolting out to a 7-2 lead after the first quarter and a 13-2 advantage by halftime.
Sophomore
Lauryn Thomas led the Mountaineers in goals for the first time this season, scoring four times.
Rebecca Valentine,
Naomi Sanders and
Riley Thompson all registered hat tricks, as six members of the team finished with multiple scores.
Hannah Keyser and
Sibley Kuder shared responsibilities in the net, with Keyser earning seven saves against two goals allowed. Kuder added another four stops.
Lola Fuhs and Thurman supplied their teammates with several goals, tallying four assists each.
Beatrice Vieira and
Hannah Sayre picked up six more assists, divided evenly. Thompson added three steals to go along with her hat trick. The entire unit drew seven exclusions while committing only five.
The 24-5 triumph stands as their largest margin of victory to date and snaps a four-game losing streak that carried over from the Princeton Invitational.
Next up for the Mount is the Curtis Robinette Memorial Invite, hosted by Mercyhurst. Gannon and McKendree are the first pair of opponents Saturday, beginning at 10:15 a.m. with the Golden Knights. All games take place at the Hallman Aquatics Center.
