EMMITSBURG, Md. (October 5, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo freshman Alexandros Bellesis received recognition as the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Rookie of the Week for the last week of September.
 
During play against Navy and the Gary Troyer Tournament, Bellesis logged 14 goals, 14 assists, 12 steals, six drawn exclusions and three field blocks. In the Mount's win over La Verne, the first year from Greece swiped the ball six times, tying a season-high.
 
For the year, Bellesis has 37 goals, 34 assists, 28 steals and 25 drawn exclusions. His field block total of 12 leads all Mountaineers and is already tied for second-most for a player in any season.
 
The team went 2-3 on the week, but stand at 10-6 overall with a 3-3 conference mark.
 
Mount St. Mary's faces Johns Hopkins and George Washington this week.
