EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 24, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's men's water polo will play their first-ever games in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference East this weekend, facing George Washington Saturday afternoon and Johns Hopkins Saturday evening.
Shifting to the East Division places the Mount into a conference with the Colonials and Blue Jays, as well as Fordham, Navy, Bucknell and Wagner.
MOUNT UPDATE
With victories over Salem and Mercyhurst, the Mount split each day at the Bucknell Invitational to go 2-2 on the weekend. Their record stands at 4-7 on the year, winning contests on three straight days of competition.
Aided by seven goals in the Mercyhurst win, sophomore
Jason O'Donnell continues to lead the team with 41.
Eli Thalos had multiple goals in each game to boost his total to 25, and
Marko Kruska tallied 17 saves in the Salem win – his most rejections for any contest this season.
Two more Mountaineers –
Kiahi Horan and
Zach Fischer – reached double-digit goals for the year with their efforts at Bucknell.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
George Washington is 2-6 as of Friday morning but will face Hopkins on Friday evening to kick off MAWPC play before they challenge the Mount. Scoring at a rate of 34.6 percent, the Colonials are led by Andras Levi and his 18 goals. Levai also holds the team leads in steals (11) and is tied in assists (11).
Johns Hopkins stands 1-5, with their lone win coming at the season opening Navy Invitational where they defeated Salem. Emerson Sullivan is their leading and most efficient scorer, registering goals on 19 of 38 attempts. Jake Pearson leads in steals with nine.

After a brief hiatus for Fall Break, the Mount gets back in the water on October 8

th, traveling to New York to face Fordham and Wagner.
