EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 17, 2021) – Four games await Mount St. Mary's men's water polo this weekend as they travel to Bucknell for a tournament hosted by the Bison.
Games against St. Francis Brooklyn and Salem plan to be streamed.
MOUNT UPDATE
Mount St. Mary's stands 2-5 on the season after winning two games out of three at Erie. The Mount defeated Penn State Behrend Friday and Mercyhurst Saturday.
Among the five losses, three of them were within two goals. These include a 13-11 loss to Gannon, and back-to-back one goal losses to Salem and Iona on September 5
th.
Jason O'Donnell leads the team in goals with 30 and steals with 18. Freshman
Nicholas Wallace-Whitfield had a productive weekend to lead all players in assists with 13 and all rookies in steals with 13. Hat tricks in Erie by fellow freshman
Zach Fischer moved him into the rookie lead for goals with nine.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
The four teams challenging the Mount have a combined 9-13 record coming into this weekend, ranging from 4-2 St. Francis Brooklyn to 0-5 Mercyhurst. Salem is 1-3 on the year with the lone win coming at the Mountaineers' expense two weekends ago.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Mount St. Mary's is 3-0 against Mercyhurst and 2-1 against Salem. This weekend marks the first meetings between the Mountaineers, Terriers and Rams.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Conference play begins September 25
th. The Mount travels for a matinee at George Washington and a night game at Johns Hopkins.
