EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 19, 2021) – The 2021 season comes to an end for Mount St. Mary's baseball this week, as they travel to Rhode Island to face the Bryant Bulldogs.
Pride is on the line for both squads, as the Mount will not advance to the Northeast Conference (NEC) postseason, and Bryant has already clinched the regular season title.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
Mount St. Mary's is hoping to avoid a seven-game losing streak to end the year. They last defeated Long Island on May 7
th on the front end of a doubleheader. After dropping the second game, they suffered a sweep to Central Connecticut in their final home series.
With a solid showing in the CCSU series,
AJ Holcomb leads qualified average holders, hitting .295 this year.
Jordan Geber had another strong start over the past weekend too, lowering his ERA to 3.88.
ABOUT BRYANT
The Bulldogs secured the top spot in the upcoming NEC Tournament by winning two of three against Wagner.
Bryant boasts a plethora of standouts, including Liam McGill's line of .471 with eight home runs and 42 RBI's. The pitching staff holds a 3.43 ERA, sparked in large measure by Tyler Mattison's 2.14 showing with 78 strikeouts.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Dominant since the series was first contested in 2010, Bryant has won 40 of 45 meetings. The Bulldogs swept the first meeting of the teams earlier this year.
