Last Home Series Awaits Mount Baseball as CCSU Comes to Emmitsburg

EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 12, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's baseball is closing the chapter on the 2021 season and will play their final home series of the year this weekend.
 
Friday is slated as the Senior Day game, as the Mount will honor 11 student-athletes – Brenden Kennedy, Andrew Malone, Tye Golden, Myles Nicholson, CJ Kozorosky, Christian Ciotti, Michael Yetter, Thomas Savastio, Jordan Geber, Thomas Esposito and Patrick Burke. Ceremonies begin at 12:30 p.m. on the field.
 
ABOUT THE MOUNT
 
The Mount played a truncated two-game series, combined into a doubleheader with the LIU Sharks. Each side fired a complete game shutout against the other, with Geber going the distance for the Mountaineers in the opening game. The senior struck out nine while allowing only six baserunners to earn Northeast Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
On offense, junior Connor Dulin holds the average lead for Mount players with 50 at-bats or more, coming into the series with a .308 average. Sophomore Brady Drawbaugh continues to lead in production, with four home runs and 24 RBI's.
 
ABOUT CCSU   
 
The Blue Devils are in a prime position to defend their 2019 NEC title, holding down second place in the conference standings.

Batting .286 as a team, CCSU is led by Jay Devito and his .343 average. Noah Martinez and Dan Covino supply the power and run production, with Martinez totaling 26 RBI's and 14 extra-base hits including five home runs. Covino comes to Emmitsburg with four homers and 25 RBI's.

Three starters provide consistent performances that have helped the Blue Devils earn a 3.61 ERA. Andrew Braun leads the group with a 3.41 and 55 strikeouts across 58 innings pitched.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES
 
Central Connecticut leads the all-time series 49-29, which includes a sweep of the Mount earlier this season in New Britain.

The final contests of the season are at Bryant from May 21st-23rd.
