EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 25, 2021) – Mount St. Mary's baseball is set to face their toughest challenge in the Northeast Conference this weekend, at least according to the conference preseason poll. The preseason favorite Bryant Bulldogs come to E.T. Straw Family Stadium for a three-game series beginning Friday.
ABOUT THE MOUNT
The Mount went 1-2 during the first conference weekend, salvaging the finale with the Long Island Sharks. Third baseman
AJ Holcomb had a productive series, going 5-for-11, and
Jordan Geber recorded nine strikeouts over five innings.
More recent was an 8-4 loss to La Salle last Tuesday.
Myles Nicholson went 3-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.
ABOUT BRYANT
The eight-time defending regular season champion, Bryant positioned themselves at the top of the NEC standings since their arrival a decade ago. They are three-time tournament winners, advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Liam McGill leads the Bulldogs with a .460 average and an OPS of 1.117. The pitching staff boasts a 3.54 ERA across the first 12 games.

Bryant has the upper hand in the series, 37-5. But the Mount won the latest meeting, 10-9, on May 4, 2019.
Thomas Savastio had three hits and a trio of RBI's in the victory.

The weekend concludes a long stretch of home games for the Mount. The road begins unfavorably with a trip to defending NEC Tournament champion Central Connecticut.
