Box Score EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 24, 2021) – The Mountaineers keep it close for the first half and faded in the second half against Towson to lose 11-5. Jake Krieger scores two goals to lead the Mountaineers with goals also coming from Luke Frankeny, Aaron Weisel, and Connor McMahon.
Towson's Brody McLean had a game high three goals, while James Avanzato scored two goals and tallied three assists. Griffin McGinley made two saves for the Mount, while Shane Brennan made 18 saves for the Tigers.
Towson started off the game with Avanzanto scoring his only two goals of the game to take an early lead. Weisel responded with first goal of the season to cut the lead to 2-1. Towson closed out the first quarter with two more goals to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Mount scored 25 seconds into the second quarter to cut the deficit down to two. Towson scored about a minute later to restore the lead to three. Krieger then scored two goals to cut the lead down to one, but Towson scored right before half to take a 6-4 lead into halftime.
Towson scored to lead off the third quarter to make it 7-4. McMahon scored the Mountaineer's only goal of the second half to make it 7-5 early in the third quarter. Towson went on a four goal run over the next 26 minutes to put the game away and win 11-5 over the Mountaineers.
