EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 12, 2021) – Notching their first win as a program last week, Mount St. Mary's men's water polo makes a return trip to Morgantown for a pair of Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference (MAWPC) contests.

The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) will stream the contests live.

SETTING THE SCENE

The Mount stands at 1-2 on the season following their home debut, a dual feature with Gannon and Mercyhurst. After contending with the Golden Knights before being doomed by a second half rally, the Mountaineers defeated Mercyhurst 10-7 for the program's first-ever victory.

Freshman Jason O'Donnell scored nine of the team's 20 goals, propelling him to a conference Rookie of the Week honor.

In the latest CWPA poll, the Mount received votes, ranking 21st on the list.

SCOUTING W&J AND MCKENDREE

Both the Presidents and Bearcats begin their seasons in Morgantown. Washington & Jefferson is looking to improve on a 5-19 record (1-5 MAWPC) and are coached by Nikola Malezanov, who arrived in the fall of 2017. McKendree finished 12-12 with a 5-1 conference record, and like the Mount, received votes in the latest CWPA poll.

LOOKING AHEAD

MAWPC Regional Championships will take place at the end of the month in Erie, Pennsylvania.
