EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 9, 2020) - Fresh off their Spring Break trip, the Mount St. Mary's baseball team returns home for a pair of midweek games. The Mountaineers will face Navy on Tuesday and Coppin State on Wednesday.

ABOUT THE MOUNT

Mount earned their first victory of the season this past Saturday against UC Davis. The 8-5 win was fueled by a 2-for-3, 3 RBI day from Owen WoslegerCole Reeder pitched two innings of scoreless relief to record the win.

Vaughn Parker II continues to lead the team in batting average at .406. Wosleger's big week catapulted his average up to .316 and second in the RBI count, behind Thomas Savastio, who has six.

ABOUT THE MIDSHIPMEN

Navy is off to a rocket fast start. After dropping the opening game to Georgetown, the Midshipmen have won 12 straight and are bringing that streak to Emmitsburg.

The team is batting .261, led by a .419 from Zach Stevens, who also has three home runs and seven RBI's. But their success is built on the backs on the pitching staff, amassing a 3.15 ERA through 13 games. Charlie Connolly has been impressive in four starts with a 1.04 ERA and 32 strikeouts.

ABOUT THE EAGLES

Coppin State is 3-8 entering the week and will have played UMBC before arriving to the Mount.

Under coach Sherman Reed the Eagles have soared to new heights in the past two years, winning 45 games in total and going 33-13 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play.

Justin Banks and Marcos Castillo lead the battery for Coppin. Banks leads in average with .325 and Castillo is right behind at .324 with a team-high nine RBI's.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES

Navy and Mount are meeting for the 11th time, and the Mountaineers hold the upper hand, 6-4. The Mount won four straight from 2009 to 2012 and the series went on hiatus until last season. The teams resumed the series last year, with Navy sweeping a two game series.

Coppin State is one of Mount's most frequent non-conference competitors. With 35 prior meetings, the Mountainners lead the series 26-8-1. But the Eagles have won the past two matches, also sweeping a series in 2019.

ON DECK

Mount splits a home-and-home weekend series with Lehigh. One game will be played in Emmitsburg Friday and in Bethlehem on Saturday and Sunday.
