BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Feb. 7, 2020) – The Mount St. Mary's women's basketball team heads to Brooklyn seeking to match their Northeast Conference (NEC) win total from a year ago. St. Francis Brooklyn will be the first challengers Saturday, as the Mount also seeks their three-game road win streak since December 2018.
THE MATCHUP
A victory for the Mount would be three straight over the Terriers, and improve their record to 55-8 in the series. It would also be a season sweep, following a 69-60 win in Emmitsburg back on January 20th. Bridget Birkhead hit six of eight shots coming off the bench, including four triples in five attempts, to lead the team with 16 points. Michaela Harrison and Taylor Addison also reached double figures for the Mountaineers, and Kayla Agentowicz matched a career-high with eight rebounds.
In the Mountaineers' last trip to Brooklyn, they pulled off an upset of the Terriers in the quarterfinals of the 2019 NEC Tournament, 80-74.
MOUNTAINEER REPORT
Mount St. Mary's is looking for an 8-2 start in the NEC, matching their win total from the 2018-19 season, when they went 8-10 to finish sixth. Currently the team is second behind undefeated Robert Morris.
Mount has improved their defensive standard over the past five games, limiting opponents to 63 points per contest. The team is 10-3 when holding opponents under 70 points, compared to 2-6 when that mark is eclipsed. On the offensive front, they are slightly above average during the same stretch with 68.8 per game.
The Mountaineers are 12-0 when they have a halftime lead, 11-0 when shooting 40 percent or more, 11-1 when leading in field goal percentage, and 5-0 when they outrebound the competition.
When shooting from long distance, the Mount leads the NEC in makes and attempts while also ranking in the top 30 for all of Division I. Harrison leads the pack with 50, contributing to her team-high 12.5 points per game. Kendall Bresee still leads in rebounds with 6.9 a game, as well as assists at 3.4. Jatarrikah Settle is on Bresee's heels with 2.8 assists a contest and leads the squad with a pair of steals on average.
In the Mount's 67-58 triumph over Sacred Heart, Rebecca Lee registered seven blocks. That total is tied for the second most in Mount history, with only Vanessa Blair reaching such a pinnacle. No other Mountaineer has managed that high a rejection total since 1990. Lee also earned a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
St. Francis Brooklyn has been reeling after the loss of leading scorer Jade Johnson, and stand tenth in the NEC with a 2-8 record.
Bright spots for the Terriers include a 71-70 upset win over Sacred Heart which snapped a six-game losing streak, and Nevena Dimitrijevic, who ranks first among NEC players in assists and seventh in scoring. Ally Lassen is their leading scorer among active players with 15.3 a game. The junior had a then season-high 27 points in the last meeting with the Mountaineers.

Mount St. Mary's remains in the Big Apple to take on Long Island Monday (Feb. 10). Their long awaited return home will be next Saturday (Feb. 15) agains Saint Francis U.
