MOUNT UPDATE
In the season opener for the Mountaineers, the squad fell 14-8 at the hands of the Delaware Blue Hens. Luke Frankeny tallied a team-high five goals while Brenden McCarthy had two assists in the loss. Kadin Kightlinger, Jared McMahon, and Joe Bethke were the remaining goal-scorers for the Mount. Dylan Furnback stopped 12 shots in net while Sam Stephan had a strong day at the X, going 17-for-26 and picking up 11 groundballs.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
The Towson men's lacrosse team dropped their first tilt of the season to #13-ranked Johns Hopkins 15-7 last weekend. All-American defensemen Koby Smith led the Tigers with a career best four points on two goals and two assists while Jon Mazza added two goals of his own. Tyler Canto made 15 saves in the loss for the Tigers.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Tigers currently hold a 10-0 all-time record against the Mountaineers in series that dates back to 2004. In last year's showdown, #10-ranked Towson prevailed over the Mount 12-7 at Waldron Family Stadium. Joe Bethke led the Mountaineers with a team-high four points on three goals and one assist. Chris DiPretoro, Matt Haggerty, Stephano Mastro, and Luke Frankeny each added a goal for the Mount. Brody McLean, Timmy Monahan, and Luke Fromert combined for 15 points for the Tigers in the win.
