ALTOONA, Pa. (January 25, 2020) – The No. 13 nationally ranked Mount St. Mary's women's bowling team kept their perfect record alive at the Red Flash Invitational with a 5-0 outing in the traditional format. Following another win against No. 9 nationally ranked Youngstown State in a position round rematch, the Mountaineers defeated Laroche, Walsh, Mount Aloysius, and conference foe St. Francis U.
Sophomore Barbara Hawes led the team and the entire field with a 1,017 total (203.4 average) to capture tournament MVP honors. Freshman Amanda Yeung joined her as a top-10 individual finisher with a 936 total (187.2 average.) Sophomore Tamera Stanton also pitched in nicely with a 900 (180 average) on challenging conditions.

The Mountaineers opened traditional play with a thriller of a win in a position round rematch against No. 9 nationally ranked Youngstown State. It came down to the final bowlers in the final frame, where the Mount would capitalize on opens from the Penguins. Hawes (243) and Yeung (212) were instrumental in the effort.
#13 Mount: 843 | Laroche: 725
The Mount would see their low set of the day come in an 843-725 win over Laroche on a tough pair. Sophomore Ashley Santos paced the Mount with a 209 game.
#13 Mount: 982 | Walsh: 819
All five Mountaineers scored 180 and higher in a dominating 982-819 win over Walsh. Hawes (210), Sophomore Danielle Milo (205), and Yeung (200) all eclipsed the 200-mark.
#13 Mount: 876 | Mount Aloysius: 733
Despite a rough finish to the match, the Mountaineers had a strong enough start to hold off Mount Aloysius 876-733 to improve to 4-0 on the day and 8-0 on the weekend. Hawes was the high scorer for the Mount with a 193 game.
#13 Mount: 982 | Saint Francis-PA: 763
The Mountaineers took care of NEC rival and tournament host St. Francis-PA in dominating fashion by a margin of 219 pins. Stanton (238) and Haws (203) led the charge for MSM.
Mount St. Mary's is the only unbeaten team at the Red Flash Invitational with a perfect 9-0 record. The next best records belong to Youngstown State, Walsh, and St. Francis-PA, all of which currently sit at 6-3.
Competition will conclude tomorrow with three rounds of best-of-seven bracket play. The Mount will get their third crack at top-10 opponent Youngstown State in round one, with the winner automatically advancing to the championship round and the loser playing the winner of St. Francis-PA and Morgan State. Competition will begin at 8:00 AM and will be streamed live on the team's Facebook Page.
