Mount Baseball Welcomes Central Connecticut For A Big Conference Series This Weekend

MOUNT UPDATE
The Mount St. Mary's baseball team topped Bucknell 16-7 in mid-week non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at E.T. Straw Family Stadium. Freshman Ryan Fisher led the Mount after he tabbed a 3-for-5 game with four RBI, two doubles, and two runs scored in the nine spot.

10 Mountaineers tabbed at least one RBI on the day that helped overpower Bucknell in the win. Patrick Causa and Thomas Savastio each added multi-hit games for Mount St. Mary's while they combined for six runs scored, three runs batted in, and a double. Thomas Bramley tallied another solid game with two runs scored, two RBI, two walks, and one stolen base. Trevor Leamer hit a big pinch hit double that drove in an insurance run for the Mount while Ben Daniels picked up his first career hit and first career run batted in. Ryan FlorioNoah KirklandCole ReederBrenden KennedySean Flynn, and Dennis Snyder combined to pitch 5.1 scoreless frames for Mount St. Mary's in relief appearances while they only allowed four hits and struck out four batters in the win.

ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS
The Central Connecticut baseball team fell at Albany, 7-3, on Tuesday in a non-conference contest. The Great Danes scored four runs in the first two innings, while holding the Blue Devils offense at bay until the ninth inning to pick up the win. Central slips to 15-16 overall after the loss. Freshman Tim Buchek started for Central and allowed only two hits in his 2.0 innings of work. The Blue Devils used five pitchers on the day in the mid-week contest, and combined to surrender just six hits. Junior Chandler Debrosse had two hits at the plate for CCSU, while Matthews had two hits and an RBI.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH CENTRAL CONNECTICUT
The Mountaineers and Blue Devils have met 74 times in series history, with Central Connecticut holding a 45-29 advantage. The Blue Devils own a 22-12 mark at E.T. Straw Family Stadium and a 23-16 record in the all-time series on their home field. Last season, the Mount won the four game series at Central Connecticut State, three game to one.
