Mount St. Mary's Baseball Opens Conference Play Against Wagner On Friday

The three game series originally scheduled to be at Wagner has been relocated to Rutgers University due to field conditions at Wagner.

MOUNT UPDATE
The Mount St. Mary's baseball team was topped by Ball State 12-9 in a high scoring affair last Saturday to end the Florida spring break trip with a 4-4 record. Alex KrissPatrick Causa, and Zack Costello combined for seven hits, five runs batted in, one double, one run scored, and a home run to lead the Mount offense. Costello went 3-for-6 with two RBI, one run scored, and a home run. Thomas Savastio and Ryan Fisher added multi-hit games for the Mountaineers in the loss. Noah Smith still has not allowed an earned run on the year after he pitched two innings in relief while striking out one batter.

ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
Wagner scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie, Fordham closed the gap in the bottom of the eighth but it was Wagner that was able to hold on for the 3-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Houlihan Park. Senior SS Anthony Pecora led the way at the plate for Wagner, going 3-for-5 with a run scored. The Mamaroneck, NY native was a home run away from the cycle, as he led off with double, a single in the seventh and a triple in the eighth. He was one of three Seahawks to score a run in the victory, joining senior CF Joe Silvestrone and junior 1B Tyler Sanfillippo. 

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH WAGNER
Wagner owns a 60-41 advantage in the all-time series with the Mount as the two programs have met 101 times in series history. The Seahawks swept the Mountaineers in a four game series early into the 2018 season on their home field and topped Mount St. Mary's 3-1 in the elimination game in the NEC Tournament.
