EMMITSBURG, Md. (Dec. 7, 2019) - Mount St. Mary's women's basketball will look for their fourth straight win in a Sunday matinee versus the Lehigh Mountain Hawks. The team is embarking on a quick turnaround after an 81-75 victory over the Loyola Greyhounds this past Friday (Dec. 6).

THE MATCHUP

The Mountaineers and Mountain Hawks have met on 10 previous occasions, dating back to 1975. Mount won the first four out of five games, but Lehigh holds the upper hand since then, carrying a five game winning streak into Sunday. The last Mount win was a 78-56 triumph on January 25, 1993.

MOUNTAINEER REPORT

Kendall Bresee was the spark plug in the Mountaineers' win over the Greyhounds on Friday, becoming the first on the team this year to record a double-double and 20+ point game. She was one of four Mount players in double figures, which included a season-high 15 points from Jatarrikah Settle. Bresee's 11 rebounds were a career high, and Michaela Harrison's six assists tied a career high.

The win etches Mount St. Mary's in second place in the Northeast Conference (NEC) at 4-3. Only Merrimack stands ahead at 5-3. The team ranks in the top three in several categories, including second in scoring offense (67.7) and third in scoring defense (64.1). Their shooting percentage of .413 stands just outside the top 10 percentages in school history, 16 points behind the .429 put up by the 1993-94 team.

Should the Mount emerge victorious, it will give the squad a four game non-conference win streak for the second consecutive season. That achievement was also made by that same 1993-94 group.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS

Lehigh presents a tough challenge for Mount St. Mary's, coming in at 6-2 on the season. The Mountain Hawks are led by Camyrn Buhr, who scores 13.4 points per game and pulls in eight rebounds per game. Cameryn Benz also registeres double figures with an even 10 points per.

While Lehigh matches Mount in points scored - 68.0 to 67.7 - they are more stout on defense, limiting opponents to 54.3 points.

They are 2-0 against the NEC this season, defeating Merrimack in overtime 72-68 on November 9th, and Central Connecticut 70-51 on November 18th.

LOOKING AHEAD

There are four road contests to conclude December for the Mountaineers. First up in a Saturday (Dec. 14) showdown with Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. The Mount returns home for conference play January 2nd, when they host Wagner.
