Old Dominion's Blistering Offense, Strong Defense Dooms Mount Women's Basketball on Saturday

NORFOLK, Va. (December 21, 2019) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball was dropped by Old Dominion (10-2) 85-34 on the final day of the Anne Donovan Classic. Victoria Morris led the way for Lady Monarchs with 19 points. Aziah Hudson chipped in 16 points for Old Dominion as well. Taylor Addison had ten points in the loss as the Mount (5-7) finished the Anne Donovan Classic at 1-2. 

Jatarrikah Settle earned All-Tournament honors after averaging 11.7 points and six rebounds across the three games. The junior earned her first double-double of the season in the victory over Richmond. 

The Lady Monarchs came out of the gates scorching to start the game on a 19-2 run. Old Dominion outscored the Mountaineers 29-7 in the first quarter shooting 68% from the field. The Mount was outscored 15-4 in the paint in the first. The hot shooting would only continue as the Monarchs took a 52-18 lead into halftime shooting 9-of-13 from three-point land.

The Mountaineers were never able to find their groove offensively as Old Dominion ran away with this one. 34 points is the lowest point total for the Mount this year.

The Mount women's basketball team will return to action after the holiday break on January 2nd. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. against Wagner at Knott Arena.
