Towson's 40-Minute Effort Haunts Mount Women's Basketball on Saturday

TOWSON, MD (November 16, 2019) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball was downed 73-57 by Towson on Saturday. Towson held the lead for 37:49 of 40 minutes in a game where their defense was prevalent forcing 22 turnovers and recording 13 steals.

Kendall Bresee led the Mountaineers with 15 points in which nine of those came from three-point balls. Taylor Addison provided some help off the bench with ten points and five rebounds. Bridget Birkhead had a strong game going three 3-for-3 from the three-point line to register 11 points.

After trailing for most of the game, the Mount was able to cut the Tigers lead to six with 7:32 left in the third quarter. This was as close as the Mountaineers would get as Kionna Jeter and Qierra Murray clamped down defensively for Towson. Jeter registered four steals to lead the Tigers while Murray added three takeaways of her own. Consistent shooting from Myasia Jones (17 points) and Jeter (17 points) helped propel Towson to the victory.

 The Mount women's basketball team will return home Wednesday, November 20th to take on UMBC at Knott Arena. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
