Box Score 2 Deland, Fla. (February 27, 2018)—Mount St. Mary's fell at Stetson, 5-0, on Tuesday night. Shea McFarland and Emilee Kirk each had a hit for the Mount in the game.
Starting pitcher Jordan Weaver held Stetson (7-7) off the board the first two innings, but the Hatters grabbed the lead with an unearned run in the bottom of the third. Stetson broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning. Maggie Fritts walked to open the frame, and Devin Lewis followed with a two-run homer. Kasey Fava and Linda Ross added RBI singles in the frame to make it 5-0.
That was all the offense Stetson pitcher Tori Perkins would need as she held the Mount (3-6) to two hits in the complete-game victory.
Weaver took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) in four innings of work to fall to 2-1 on the season. Katie Olson tossed two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit. McFarland and Kirk each went 1-for-3 at the plate for the Mountaineers.
The Mount continues the road trip tomorrow with a doubleheader at Savannah State.
