MOUNT UPDATE
The Mountaineers dropped another tight tilt on Tuesday, falling at Richmond by a 13-10 final to drop to 0-3 on the year. Richmond netted six of the opening seven goals of the game, including three from Teddy Hatfield, to open a 6-1 advantage with 3:15 left in the first. The Mount netted a pair in the final minute of the first, and outscored Richmond by a 3-1 margin in the second quarter to close the Spiders' lead to 7-6 at halftime.
After an even third quarter, Brenden McCarthy's second goal of the game tied things up at 9-9 early in the fourth. Richmond responded with three goals in the next four minutes to jump back ahead, 12-9, with 10:06 showing on the clock. McCarthy completed his hat trick with a tally at the 4:22 mark to trim the deficit to two, but the Mount was held scoreless in the final four minutes as Richmond went on for the 13-10 win.

SCOUTING UMBC
The Retrievers, who finished 6-8 overall and 4-2 in America East play last season, opened the 2018 campaign with a 9-6 victory over Richmond before dropping a tight tilt at Navy, 7-5, on Saturday. Middie Billy Nolan and attack Trevor Patschorke leads the squad with five points apiece (4g, 1a). Goalie Tommy Lingner has posted a .690 save percentage and 4.87 goals against average through the first two games.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Friday's matchup marks the fifth meeting between the Mount and UMBC in the last six seasons. Since the Mount's move to Division I, the Retrievers own a perfect 18-0 mark against the Mountaineers, including a 14-11 victory in the most recent contest between the two teams in 2016.
