Baltimore, Md. (December 1, 2018)—Mount St. Mary's topped rival Loyola,77-67, on Saturday afternoon at Loyola's Reitz Arena for the team's second consecutive win.  Juliette Lawless paced the Mount with a career-high 29 points while Daly Sullivan added 16 in the victory.

Lawless went 9-of-14 from the field, 4-of-6 from three-point range, and 7-of-9 at the foul line for her 29-point day.  She added eight rebounds, six assists and a pair of blocks in the win.  Sullivan went 6-of-10 from the field and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc for her 16 points.  Jatarrikah Settle chipped in 12 points, Rebecca Lee added nine points and eight rebounds, and Bridget Birkhead finished with six points and a career-best eight rebounds in the win.  Bri Betz-White led Loyola with 18 points, making 14-of-15 at the foul line in the game.

The Mount shot 54.3 percent from the floor in the win while making 12-of-27 (.444) three-point shots.  Loyola shot 32.1 percent in the game, including just 2-of-17 (.118) from beyond the arc.

The Mountaineers (3-3) started the game on fire, hitting their first four three-point shots.  Harrison started the surge, Sullivan followed with a pair, and Settle's three-pointer with 4:41 left in the first quarter gave the Mount a 14-4 advantage.  After Loyola cut the deficit to 18-11, Lawless connected on a traditional three-point play, and Settle drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Mount a 24-11 lead after the first quarter of play.

The Mount was 9-of-12 (.750) from the field in the first quarter, including 5-of-7 (.714) from three-point range.  Sullivan had eight points in the quarter while Settle had six.

The Greyhounds (0-7) cut the Mount advantage to 33-25 in the second quarter, but a Lawless basket and a Birkhead three-pointer restored the Mount's lead back to 13.  The Mount went to the locker room with a 43-31 lead.  Lawless scored 13 of her 18 first-half points in the second stanza.

The Mount pushed its advantage to 56-35 after a Sullivan three-pointer with 6:18 left in the third quarter.  The Greyhounds fought back, closing the third quarter on a 16-to-4 run to cut the Mount lead to 60-51.

Loyola continued to slice into the Mount lead, cutting the deficit to 63-56 midway through the fourth quarter.  Michaela Harrison had a big bucket to put the Mount up, 65-56, and Rebecca Lee converted a post move on the next possession to put the Mount up by 11.  Loyola responded with the next four points, but a Sullivan three-pointer pushed the Mount ahead, 70-60.

The Greyhounds answered again when Bri Betz-White connected for five consecutive free throws to make it a four-point game.    Lawless connected on a pair of free throws to make it a six-point lead, and the Mount was able to hold on for the win.

The Mountaineers return to action on Monday, December 3, with a 6:00 p.m. matchup at Gardner-Webb
