Box Score

Emmitsburg, Md. (April 12, 2017)--Mount St. Mary's hit three home runs while turning three double plays to defeat visiting Georgetown, 6-2, on Wednesday afternoon at Our Lady of the Meadows Field on campus.  Emilee Kirk, Marian Ruf and Rachel Heinze each homered in the game as the Mount improved to 13-20 on the season.

Kirk got the scoring started in the bottom of the second when she connected for a three-run homer over the left-field fence to give the Mount a 3-0 lead.  Lindsay Heinze and Shea McFarland each walked in the inning ahead of Kirk's fifth home run of the season.

Ruf belted a solo home run to center field in the fourth to stretch the lead to 4-0.  After the Hoyas (11-24) got a run back in the top of the sixth, Heinze drilled a line-drive home run to left-center field to put the Mount ahead, 6-1.  The two-run shot was Heinze's team-leading 10th home run of the year.

The Hoyas made things interest in the seventh, scoring on a Noelle Holiday RBI single and loading the bases before Ruf retired the final batter on a popout to first to end the game.

Mount St. Mary's used all five pitchers in the game to record the victory.  Starter Sam Lichtner tossed two scoreless innings with Kaylee Cross pitching a scoreless third.  Jordan Weaver picked up the win with two scoreless innings.  Katie Olson and Ruf each allowed one run in one inning of work.

The Mount defense was solid throughout the game, turning three double plays while also getting a pair of force outs at second base from the outfield.

Mount St. Mary's is back in action on Friday, April 14, when Central Connecticut visits for a Northeast Conference doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.
