MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's closes out the 2016 season at Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The Mount is coming off a 7-3 win over Wagner this past Saturday. Frankie McCarthy made 11 saves to pace the Mount defense while Spencer Smith led the offense with a pair of goals. Mark Hojnoski leads the Mount with 40 points this season on a team-high 25 goals and 15 assists. McCarthy (8.77 GAA, 45 saves) and Matt Vierheller (10.93 GAA, 59 saves) have both seen action in goal for the Mountaineers this year. A win over the Hawks would give the Mount's its first season at .500 or better since the 2011 team went 9-6.
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S: Saint Joseph's is looking to clinch its third consecutive Northeast Conference regular season title. The Hawks are 10-3 overall and 4-1 in the NEC, and are coming off a 9-8 win over Penn on Tuesday. Mike Rastivo leads the team with 52 points (32 goals, 20 assists) while Chris Blewitt (20), Kevin Forster (19), Kevin Redinger (19), Kyle Swain (18), Pat Swanick (13) and Hayes McGinley (13) all have double figures in goals this season. T.J. Jones has started all 13 games in the cage, posting a 7.42 goals against average and a .578 save percentage.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mount holds a 13-7 lead in the all-time series with Saint Joseph's that began in 1995. The Hawks, however, have won the past three matchups, including a pair last season. Mount St. Mary's is 4-5 all-time on the road against the Hawks.
LAST YEAR'S MATCHUPS: The Mount lost a pair of games to Saint Joseph's last season, falling 16-4 at home in the regular season and 10-4 on the road in the Northeast Conference semfinals.
