MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's lost to UMBC, 14-11, at home on Tuesday night to fall to 5-5 on the season. The Mountaineers scored five consecutive goals to rally from a 10-5 deficit to even the score at 10-10 midway through the fourth quarter. UMBC was able to recover, scoring the next four goals to secure the win. Mark Hojnoski paced the Mount with four goals and two assists while Bubba Johnson chipped in three goals and an assist in the game. Chris DiPretoro and Bubba Johnson each added a pair of goals for the Mountaineers. The Mount held a 31-30 edge in shots and a 38-28 advantage in ground balls in the contest.
ABOUT HOBART: Hobart enters Saturday's game 6-5 overall and 2-1 in the Northeast Conference. The Statesmen are coming off a 16-10 win over Robert Morris this past Saturday. Chris Aslanian paced Hobart with five goals and two assists in the win. Frank Brown leads the team with 31 points and 25 goals while Aslanian is second on the squad with 23 points and 18 goals. Jackson Brown has started all 11 games in goal, posting a 9.80 goals against average and a .486 save percentage.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: The Mount and Hobart have split the two all-time meetings between the two teams. The Mount won 10-8 at Hobart last year after falling to the Statesmen, 8-5, at home in 2014.
LAST YEAR'S MEETING: Evan Gormley recorded a hat trick as the Mount downed Hobart, 10-8, on April 25 last year to clinch a spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament. The Mount raced to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter, and stretched the lead to 8-2 in the second quarter. Hobart rallied to cut the deficit to 8-5, but Clayton Wainer and Justin Gosnell scored back-to-back goals for the Mount to stop the rally. Hobart scored three times in the final 2:24 to make the final score 10-8.
