MOUNT UPDATE:  The Mountaineers have won four in a row after doubleheader sweeps of Coppin State and Morgan State at home last week.  Offense keyed the four-game win streak as the Mount scored 30 runs while hitting .444 in the four games.  Rachel Heinze powered the Mount by going 7-for-10 (.700) with five home runs and eight RBI over the past three games.  Rachel Gavigan hit .600 in the four games while Marisa Mayes (7-for-14) and Holly Buckel (5-for-10) each hit .500 last week.  Marian Ruf went 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA in 12 innings, posting complete-game victories against both Coppin State and Morgan State.  The Mount pitchers overall had a 1.17 ERA in the four games.

ABOUT BROWN:  Brown is 8-7 on the season, and plays at Morgan State on Monday.  Julia Schoenewald leads the team with a .500 average, six doubles and 11 runs scored.  Yerak Park is hitting .318 with two home runs and a team-best 10 RB.  Gina Chieffallo is the top pitcher, sporting a 2-1 record with a 2.91 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched.  Katie Orona is 4-3 with a 3.47 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 44.1 innings of work.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES:  Brown won the lone meeting in the all-time series, 5-4, on March 18, 2012 at the UMBC Spring Classic.  The Bears won that game in dramatic fashion on Kelsey Hom's walk-off three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.  Erin Leddy went 3-for-4 with a home run to pace the Mount in the game.

RACHEL HEINZE MATCHES SINGLE-SEASON HR MARK:  Junior outfielder Rachel Heinze was on fire last week, cracking five home runs over the past three games.  Heinze is hitting .324 with 11 home runs and 24 RBI on the season.  The 11 home runs match the Mount's single-season record set by Liz Christiansen in 2010.  Heinze's 18 career home runs are tied for second all-time at the Mount with Beth Everist (2008-11), and are seven shy of matching Christiansen for the school record of 25.

OFFENSE PICKS UP:  The Mount hit .444 in posting doubleheader sweeps over Coppin State and Morgan State last week.  The Mountaineers are now hitting .303 as a team this year while averaging 4.16 runs per game.  In comparison, the Mount hit .230 while averaging 3.05 runs per game last season.

RUF NOTCHES BIG WEEK:  Marian Ruf went 2-0 with a 0.58 ERA and a pair of complete-game victories for the Mountaineers last week.  She struck out five while allowing just four hits and an unearned run in the Mount's 2-1 win over Morgan State.  She allowed one run in the Mount's 12-1 five-inning win over Coppin State.  Ruf leads the Mount with four complete games this season.

UP NEXT:  The Mountaineers open Northeast Conference play at Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, April 2, with a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
