Mount Softball Clipped by Morgan State

Baltimore, Md. (March 11, 2016)—The Mount St. Mary's softball team fell to Morgan State, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational.

The Mountaineers took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning.  Jessica Greenewald walked to open the frame, and then advanced to third on a Morgan State error.  Lindsay Heinze singled up the middle with one out to plate Greenewald to give the Mount a 1-0 advantage.

The Bears answered with three runs in the bottom of the first, one in the second and two in the third to take a 6-1 advantage.    Korynna Lara and Giselle Alvarez each had RBI singles for Morgan State in the first. The third run came home on a wild pitch.

Katie Olson pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the Mount.  Greenewald, Marisa Mayes and Heinze each had a hit in the game.

Mount St. Mary's is back in action tomorrow with a pair of games at Coppin State at 12:00 and 2:15 pm.
