Mount St. Mary's Softball to Face New Mexico State and UTEP in Midweek Doubleheaders

MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's opened the 2016 season at the Diamond Devil Invitational hosted by Arizona State this past weekend.  The Mount went 0-5, falling to Houston twice, Saint Francis U, No. 21 Minnesota and No. 19 Arizona State.  Megan Baker hit .385 in the five games while Marian Ruf posted a .364 average.  Rachel Heinze hit the team's only home run while driving in three runs.

ABOUT NEW MEXICO STATE:  New Mexico State went 2-4 over the weekend at the Mary Nutter Classic, and enter Tuesday's matchup with an 11-6 record, including a 9-2 mark at home.  Emma Adams (.438, 2HR, 19 RBI) and Rachel Rodriguez (.429) lead the team in average while Kelsey Horton is hitting .383 with seven home runs. Kariysta Donisthorpe is 5-3 with a 2.01 ERA in 11 appearances and 10 starts.

ABOUT UTEP:  UTEP is 6-9 on the season after going 2-3 at the Texas A&M Invitational this past weekend.  Kaitlin Ryder lead the team with a .415 average while Courtney Clayton is hitting .380 with three home runs and 14 RBI.  Kiki Pepi leads the squad with four home runs and 18 RBI.  Danielle Pearson is 2-2 with a 3.89 ERA in the circle.

ALL-TIME SERIES:  This will be the Mount's first-ever games against either team.

UP NEXT:  The Mount will compete at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational with Arizona, James Madison, Saint Francis U, BYU and UTEP.
