Fournier Highlights Final Day of NEC Championships as Mount Women's Swimming Finishes Sixth

FINAL RESULTS

Cambridge, Mass. (February 27, 2016) – Haley Fournier highlighted the final night of the Northeast Conference Championships with a second-place finish in the 1650 free as Mount St. Mary's University swimming wrapped up the four-day event in sixth place.

Central Connecticut won its second straight NEC Championship, taking first place with 797 team points, and was followed by Wagner, which finished in a close second with 727 points. Bryant (543 pts.), Saint Francis U (463), LIU Brooklyn (417), Mount St. Mary's (193), Sacred Heart (180) and St. Francis Brooklyn (121) rounded out the team standings.

Fournier clocked in at 17:25.83 in the 1650 to take second place and earn the Mount's top finish of the championships. The Mountaineers also finished 9-10-11 in the event, with Mary Lombardi touching the wall in 17:47.25, and Bridget Vaughan (17:48.17) and Sarah Bonson (17:56.53) taking the next two spots.

Amanada Moore and Sarah Bonson each posted seventh-place showings on the final day. Moore swam the 100 free in 51.54 and Bonson clocked in at 2:08.71 in the 200 fly as both swimmers posted their best individual finishes of the championships.

In the 200 breast, the Mount had four swimmers finish in the 16 through 19 spots, led by Fournier, who registered the Mount's top time in the event in 2:35.27. Alyssa Felos (2:31.40), Lauren Gullickson (2:32.66) and Juliette Lacoste (2:34.51) were the next three to place in the event.

Maddie McGraw posted the Mount's top time in the 200 back in 2:07.72 for a 17th-place showing, and Hunter Montevideo placed 21st in a time of 2:11.48.

The Mountaineers closed out the championships by taking seventh in the 400 free relay, as McGraw, Moore, Lombardi and Lenna Castro Marquez combined to clock in at 3:35.65.
