Mount Women's Swimming Remains in Eighth After Day Two of NEC Championships

Cambridge, Mass. (February 25, 2016) -- Mount St. Mary's University women's swimming remains in eighth place following day two of the Northeast Conference Championships. Amanda Moore highlighted the day with a new program record in the 50-yard freestyle in the morning preliminary heats.

Moore clocked in at 23.76 in the 50 free prelims to clip the old program record of 23.77, which she set earlier this season at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. Moore swam the 50 free finals heat in 24.03 to take eighth place in the event for the Mount's top individual finish of the night. Morgan Runk posted the Mount's next best time in the 50 free, touching the wall in 25.38.

Haley Fournier posted an 11th place finish in the 500 free in 5:04.98, and Mary Lombardi (5:12.77) and Bridget Vaughan (5:16.30) registered the Mountaineers next best finishes in the event.

Juliette Lacoste (2:13.45) and Lauren Gullickson (2:15.69) posted the team's top times in the 200 IM.

In the final event of the night, the 200 free relay, Lacoste, Runk, Maddie McGraw and Lenna Castro Marquez touched the wall in 1:40.82 to take seventh place.

Central Connecticut owns the top spot after day two with 251 team points, while Wagner (223 pts.) and LIU Brooklyn (165) round out the top three.

The Mount returns for day three of the championships on Friday (February 26), with preliminary heats set for 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. Day three will feature the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and 400 medley relay. Action can be seen for free on NECFrontRow.com.
