MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's opened the season with a 14-11 come-from-behind win at Delaware last Friday. Trailing 9-6 in the third quarter, the Mountaineers closed the game with an 8-2 run to secure the victory. Evan Gormley racked up a career-high four goals while Bubba Johnson chipped in a hat trick in the game. Three goals in a span of 1:26 to open the final quarter put the Mount ahead for good, 12-10.
ABOUT TOWSON: Towson opened the season with an 11-2 win over Mercer last Friday. The Tigers are ranked 15th in the USILA Coaches Poll and are No. 17 in the Cascade/Maverik Division I Men's Media Top 20. Towson jumped to a 6-0 lead against Mercer and cruised to the win. Joe Seider had three goals and an assist while Spencer Parks added a hat trick. In goal, Tyler White allowed one goal with seven saves in 58:27 of action.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES: Towson holds a 6-0 lead in the all-time series since the Mount moved to NCAA Division I in 1989. The teams have met in each of the past five seasons. Last year, Towson posted a 7-4 win at the Mount.
LAST YEAR'S GAME: Matt Vierheller made 17 saves for the Mount in a 7-4 loss to Towson at Waldron Family Stadium last season. The game was knotted a 3-3 in the third quarter before Towson scored twice in the final 2:29 of the quarter to steal the momentum.
