MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's steps out of Northeast Conference action with a road doubleheader at in-state opponent Towson on Wednesday, April 29. The Mountaineers, which have gone 4-3 in their last seven games, are led by Tori Belloc's .304 batting average to go with Morgan Alisauckas' team-leading seven home runs.

LAST TIME OUT: The Mountaineers completed a busy week with a pair of losses at LIU Brooklyn on Sunday, falling by scores of 10-2 and 9-5. Sophomore Rachel Heinze led the Mount's offense on the day with a home run and a double.

ABOUT TOWSON: Holding a 31-19 overall record, Towson has scored wins over teams from big-name conferences such as St. John's, South Florida, Georgetown and Villanova. All four of Towson's pitchers boast an ERA under 3.90, while the lineup features four .300-plus hitters including Holiday Cahill and her .411 average. The Tigers held a grand opening ceremony for the newly renovated Tiger Softball Stadium on April 25 as part of a doubleheader with Drexel. The Mount will be the second opponent to play on the field since the ribbon cutting ceremony.

LAST SEASON VS. TOWSON: The Mount was handed a 3-1 non-conference loss by Towson at Our Lady of the Meadows Field last spring. Mount pitcher Sam Lichtner was dealt the loss despite giving up just two earned runs while striking out seven in a complete game. The Mount took a 1-0 lead in the second, but Towson responded two innings later with three runs to beat the Mountaineers.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. TOWSON: Mount St. Mary's has gone 7-35-1 versus Towson dating back to the first meeting in 1985. The Mount's road record in the series stands at 3-16, most recently earning a 10-0 victory at Towson in 2013. Wednesday's doubleheader will mark the 16th season in a row the two sides have squared off.

SWEEP: The Mount earned its second doubleheader sweep of the season with two wins over Wagner on April 25. Earlier this season, the Mount took a pair from Coppin State on March 25. The Wagner sweep marked the first time the Mount beat Wagner twice in the same day on the road since 1999.

HEATING UP: Helping the Mount post a 4-4 record last week, sophomore Rachel Heinze put up a .389 batting average (7-for-18) with three home runs. In the four games versus NEC opponents, Heinze hit .400 (4-for-10) with two home runs, six RBIs and a double. Heinze hit a three-run homer in the Mount's 4-2 win over UMBC. She followed up with a grand slam versus Wagner and a solo shot against LIU Brooklyn.

LONG BALL: The Mount's 27 home runs this season are the most for the program in Head Coach Anna Nagro's five-year tenure in Emmitsburg. The previous high was 26 set by the 2012 team.

UP NEXT: The Mountaineers conclude the season with a doubleheader at Sacred Heart on Saturday, May 2. Game times in Fairfield, Conn. are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
